Percussion, Personified.

Drummers are a dime a dozen, but classically trained, multi-faceted percussionists are hard to find. And what if you need a reliable instrumentalist who also plays kit, mallets, or brings her own timpani? Meet Emilie Taylor: Washington, D.C. freelance musician, sought-after clinician, and professional schlepper¹.

Orchestra

Having trained under the tutelage of John Tafoya at Indiana University, Emilie is an accomplished timpanist and section percussionist.

She currently serves as principal timpanist at the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra, but she has also appeared frequently with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Greater Washington, Symphony of the Potomac, Piedmont Symphony Orchestra, and NIH Philharmonia, among many others.

Musicals

Drums? Check. Giant room sized percussion setup? Got it. Electronics? It’s covered.

Emilie has played drums/percussion for over 30 different musicals, ranging from golden age classics up to modern hits. She’s in constant demand at numerous theatres, including Round House Theatre, Little Theatre of Alexandria, Good Shepherd Players, NextStop Theatre Company, and many more.

Solo & Ensemble Repertoire

Emilie’s first true love was the marimba. After consuming just about every piece written by Ney Rosaro, she went on to Indiana University to study under Kevin Bobo, and earned her stripes playing in the front ensembles for both Phantom Regiment and Music City Mystique.

She’s a founding member of the Imperial Percussion Collective, a contemporary percussion ensemble spun out from the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra.
